What Type of Carton Sealing Tape is Best?
The adhesive type is the most important factor. There are three primary adhesives used in carton sealing tapes:
- Hot Melt
- Acrylic
- Natural Rubber
When selecting tape, consider:
- Box material: Corrugated paper varies in texture and finish.
- Environment: Storage temperature, humidity, and tape lifespan.
- Adhesive suitability: Hot melts and acrylics are most common.

How Strong of a Tape Should I Use?
The amount of adhesive on carton sealing tape is measured in mil thickness using a micrometer (1 mil is 1/1,000th of an inch). Mil thickness usually varies from 1.6 mil to 2.0 mil in carton sealing tapes:
